I’m Katie. I’m a data analyst by trade and a reader by nature, and I’m slowly building a life that puts books closer to the center of it.

I’ve spent close to a decade working in data, which means I’ve gotten very good at a particular kind of question: what is this actually telling us, and what should we do about it? Somewhere along the way, I realized the thing I do for corporations is the same thing I want to do for the world I love — the world of books!
I read the way some people watch television: constantly, and a little indiscriminately. Fantasy, romance, historical fiction, biographies, and the occasional book about a place I’ll never go. I live on a lake in northern Minnesota with my husband, our daughter, and two quirky dogs. It turns out to be an excellent place to read, and an even better place to daydream about a small bookshop with soft light and comfy chairs.
That bookshop is my life’s dream. Between here and there, I’m earning a library science degree from the University of Missouri and building Pages by the Shore into a home for all of it: a consulting practice for the book world, a blog around my life, and whatever the shop eventually becomes. I didn’t want to bet everything on a single version of the future, so I chose a path where more than one good ending is possible. I’m still figuring plenty of it out alongside a full-time career.
If any of that has piqued your interest, I’m glad you’re here.
